When someone lists “pizza” as one of their influences in their bio, we had an instant connection with this kindred spirit but when their art is this awesome, we develop an equally powerful, instant admiration. Such is the case with the artist Truck Torrence, or as many know him, 100% Soft.
100% Soft has just had his second solo show at Gallery 1988 and much like its predecessor, it is utterly fantastic. Called “Mass Hysteria 2” the show features 100% Soft’s signature, and instantly recognizable, take on pop culture including: Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Willy Wonka, The Walking Dead, Pulp Fiction and many more.
If you are in the Los Angeles area you have until September 17th to stop by Gallery 1988 and take in the glory and splendor that is 100% Soft. Here are some pieces from the show.
Captain America: Civil War – 16×20″
Mad Max: Fury Road. 64×20″ (This is not a misprint, this piece is massive!)
100% Soft “Spider-Man” Double Sided Hanging Foam Cut-Out

And yes….if you have this sense of deja vu 100% Soft IS the artist who did the Star Wars emoji’s that you are probably using on your social media messages. CLICK HERE to read a really great interview with him about this project.
